Where does Cyber Monday come from?
The term "Cyber Monday" was coined by Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation, in 2005. They observed a consistent surge in online traffic and revenue on the Monday after Thanksgiving, attributed to people making purchases from their work computers for faster connections and privacy. Shop.org's press release highlighted a 77% sales increase the previous year on Cyber Monday among online retailers. This term quickly gained traction, appearing in The New York Times and spreading through advertising. Since then, Cyber Monday has remained a prominent and growing trend in the retail industry.
When is Cyber Monday 2023?
Cyber Monday takes place on the first Monday after Thanksgiving, which has been the following Monday after Black Friday, and usually presents high discounts on online sales, especially in the electronics sector and technology. This year, Cyber Monday 2023 is November 29 th. but the offers will extend along a few days more.
